The Château Équilly is a 13th century castle located in the Normandy region of France. For years it has been a hub of creativity, history and community, and as its newest owners, we want to build even more on its untapped potential.
With years of experience in the realms of hospitality, events management, luxury fashion, the arts, and engineering, the team has seen success in London, Warsaw, Amsterdam, and even Normandy itself. Together, we’re looking to breathe new life into every inch and every hectare.
With sprawling grounds that feature a romantic rose garden, centuries-old trees and a pond that’s overlooked by an actual turret, there’s a cinematic feeling about the place.
The interior design features quarters decorated in a classic French style, with antiques at every turn. Bedrooms with four poster beds and living rooms with plush canapés are the perfect place to unwind and entertain.
Dining rooms and events spaces can be found inside, each able to hold large groups of revellers. There is also a large balcony overlooking the garden, roofed terrace and an inviting courtyard that can create a wonderful setting for many a wedding and other exhuberent celebrations.
As the history of Château Équilly meets the ambition of a new team of proprietors, there’s still a lot to explore in the halls of this imposing building, and the next few years will see more rooms and spaces open up for guests and visitors.
We also brought along our four furry companions. A husky mix, a Weimaraner, a Newfoundland and a little rescue cat. They reside on the grounds and thrive in the gardens during off season but because of their presence we aren’t currently able to accommodate guests with dogs. They’re very friendly towards people and will safely stay in their own enclosure when guests are around, but adding more pets to the mix could get a bit chaotic and loud.
When we acquired the Château, it was important to us to put our own stamp on it. Give it a new lease of life and inject some of our vision into the historic interiors and sprawling exteriors. With the Medieval Wing needing only minor touches, some velvet chairs here, a side table there, our attention turned to the Renaissance section. We had three bedrooms, a large salon and long corridors to work with, and this historical canvas was a dream to explore. We wanted to honour the time periods of the interiors, embracing château blues, golds and pinks to provide an authentic backdrop to the antique furniture and heirlooms that add character to every space.

Over the centuries, the Castle has seen its fair share of change. The Medieval Wing celebrates the first few hundreds of years in the lifespan of the building. Having served as a fortress of protection in a tumultuous period of time, the interiors evoke the darkness and mystery of the era. One of the first proprietors was a knight who fought to protect the regions and has been honoured on a memorial plaque at Mont Saint-Michel. Another was an admiral who used pieces of wood from his ship to build parts of the Château. Heavy mahogany panelling, imposing carvings and deep hues chatacterise this space that house two of our rooms and a library space that serves as the perfect lounging area after a day of exploring Normandy.
The Renaissance Wing celebrates the opulence of this era of creativity and exploration. Mixing influences from all over Europe, this side of the Château has a much lighter and airier feel to it. The three bedrooms are presented in shades of light blue, whipped cream, dusky pink, and are finished with touches of gold throughout. Each piece of furniture was meticulously chosen to add style and comfort to these unique surroundings and their rich past.
As a team, we hope to see new memories created in this historically rich setting, as we host visitors and revellers from around the world.
